Prevalence Statistics and Resources Home

Understanding the scope and impact of domestic violence in child protection, child custody, and child support systems and how best to respond to it is central to the work of the RCDV:CPC. Much of what we understand about the prevalence of domestic violence in these cases comes from research in the fields of social work, psychology, sociology, public health, and many others. This research shows that domestic violence is common throughout the United States, affecting millions of survivors and their children each year.

This webpage includes the best statistics currently available on the prevalence of domestic violence within the context of child protection, child custody, and child support in the United States.
